You kind of have to understand what the Envisioning process is, and isn't, about. The Meridian Kessler "Plan", which is essentially a zoning map, hasn't been changed, or even examined in over a quarter century. The Envisioning process in its current…

Bonnie- The mission of CAN DO! is to revitalize the College Avenue corridor (as well as the areas from the Monon Trail to Central Avenue) with Transportation Oriented- sustainable smart growth. The project we have been working on first is the Uptown Project which will be a mixed-use housing and retail development. The project is shovel ready with commitments from the City and State but we are still working on the final fundraising pieces from the community that the City and State say we need in order to show how much we want a $22M project in our area to decrease the blight, reduce the crime and raise property values back up again.

The other thing CAN DO! is focusing on is Envision College Avenue. We have partnered with Meridian Kessler, Harmoni and the Department of Metropolitan Development to put a process in place where the people in the community can come and give their input and have a stake in what happens here. By working on a plan with the City we will be insured that nobody can come along and put things in place that none of us want. I very much hope you will come to the 2nd session of Envision on October 7th so you too can give input and be part of this process of deciding what we want and need here.
I also hope you will encourage all your neighbors and friends to come as well. The details are listed in the Group section at the top of this page under Envision College Avenue. It is also written up in this month's issue of the MKNA newsletter.

I hope this brief explanation helps! If you want to see the project itself you can go to Uptown-Indy.com and you'll be able to see lots of the detail and how the project has grown and changed as we've moved forward.

If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask!!
